Hello world! So, this is my second post on this blog, and yes, I am counting.
Today I wanted to do a book review, mainly because I've actually never done like, a long, detailed book review before. So I thought I would do one today! Yay!
Note: May contain mild spoilers.
So, the book is Geek Girl by Holly Smale.
Rating: 7/10
This book was actually quite a nice read, although I think it could be better. I was actually expecting more from it, so note to self: don't put your expectations too high. I thought that I would totally be able to relate to the main character, Harriet, but I didn't.
Here are my problems with the book:
- It's unrealistic. I mean, the chances of you getting spotted by a modelling agency even when you say, "I don't want to do it", is highly unlikely. And I don't get how everyone apparently hated Harriet, and no one even told the teacher or anything that Alexa was bullying Harriet. Alexa seemed harmless, to be honest.
- Nick. Ok, so I don't hate Nick or anything, but seriously? Like after meeting him only twice, they're already in love? Not to mention the ending. It was sweet and all, but... it's happening too fast, I think.
Now that I look back, those were kind of the only problems I had with the book. I really liked Nat, I thought that she was a great friend, especially since she was supposedly really pretty, and could have been way popular, yet she stuck with Harriet. And she defended Harriet against Alexa! That was a pretty awesome move, I would say. She even encouraged Harriet to pursue modelling, even though it was her dream job! What a good friend. It was understandable that she would be upset for a while anyway.
I also liked Annabel a lot. I loved her and Harriet's relationship, and how much of a real mother she is to her. Very sweet :)
So overall, the book was great. A few bits dragged on a bit, but other than that, I would definitely recommend this to girls who are self-conscious maybe. It might help :)

Hello!
So this is my first ever post on this blog, and I'm super excited about it! Except of course I couldn't think about what I would write about, so this is just going to be me rambling on about weird stuff.
I suppose I should start with telling you who I am. My name is Kelly, I am a New Zealand born Chinese, which I am proud of both being mostly Chinese and partly kiwi I suppose, as I am currently living in NZ. I won't tell you my age, although I will say that I am in between the ages 10 - 20 :). I love to read, DIY (make stuff), and sing. I have 2 older sisters and one younger brother, but since I still want to be kept kind of anonymous, their names on the blog will be Ellie (she is 14), Ann (she is 23) and Lee (he is 5). The names I gave them are similar to their actual names, so it's not that different.
So I decided to create this blog so that I could connect with people. I don't actually expect anybody to be reading my blog, haha, but it's still nice to know that my feelings or a part of me, is on the internet, while still kept (kind of) anonymous. On this blog I'll be posting about fashion, beauty, tutorials, loads of that sort of stuff. So I guess it's a lifestyle blog. I actually also want to start a YouTube channel, which I'll be doing soon! So I'm also pretty excited about that.
Anyways, I think I've talked enough for this post. Leave any questions in the comments! Or can you not comment on blogs? Haha, I'm still new to this thing so I'm not exactly sure. But I'll see you guys in the next post! Hopefully :).
